Learn the History of Neighborhoods Through Food
in Alexandria, VA, Baltimore, MD & Washington, DC

Join us for a culinary experience like no other as we roam DC and explore how the flavors have impacted the evolution of each neighborhood we feature. From U Street to Georgetown and Alexandria, we’ll show you all the best eateries and provide insight into the art, architecture, and the history along the way.

When you tour with Blue Fern Travel, you are also supporting the local community. We donate a potion of each ticket to Bread for the City; you are directly responsible for feeding a resident in need for the whole day! Book your guided food tour in DC and have confidence that you will have fun, learn, explore, and contribute!

Since our founding in 2014, we have donated a portion of every ticket sold to our charity partner, Bread for the City. To date, together with our guests, we’ve donated 40,000 meals! Now, in celebration of our tenth anniversary, we have set a goal to donate 10,000 meals this year alone.

It just so happens that Bread for the City is celebrating their 50th Anniversary, so it’s just all the more fitting that we will donate 10,000 meals for our 10th year, for a total of 50,000 meals!

A True DC Culinary Experience

Best DC food tour!! Review of: U Street: Food, History, and Street Art Tour

"I’m a DC local, but I don’t know a ton about the city’s local history. This was the perfect tour to fix that! I learned SO much about U Street’s history, and I got to try so much amazing food!! My tour guide, Tiffany, was extremely knowledgeable. If you’re looking to get off the beaten path in DC and eat great food, you definitely need to take this tour."

Great tour for anyone! Review of: U Street: Food, History, and Street Art Tour

"I took a trip to DC thanks to a surprise destination travel agency and they booked this tour for me. I can be a picky eater but I loved everything we tried and the history that Tiffany provided during the tour was great. So happy I had the chance to join and left feeling like I learned so much about the city that I would have missed if I didn’t go with Carpe DC! Highly recommend to anyone that visits DC."

Great Food Tour Review of: Boutique Old Town Alexandria Food & History Tour

"Joined family from out of town on this food tour of Old Town Alexandria. We benefited from great weather--perfect for the experience--and had enjoyable walk through old town. Stopping at five sites for food/beverage (good beer in my case!), and hearing about the history of many interesting sites such as Christchurch, Carlyle House, Torpedo Factory, etc. It's a great way to introduce yourself to a city or to enjoy time with family. Great job by the guide Zach as well; informative and engaging. I'll look into other DC Food Tour experiences."

A nice welcome Review of: U Street: Food, History, and Street Art Tour

"The tour was a great way to get acquainted with the history and food places at U street! The locations were interesting and the choices of food made me want to go back and try them again. Also, Tiffany was an excellent guide! It was a plus that we went with a bigger group on a weekend so there were lots of conversations and it never got boring. Recommended!"

History of Baltimore and Food Tour!

"My girlfriend and I went to the Baltimore Food tour. It was filled with History of Fells Point and a lot of eating. (some 21+ drinks too!). I would highly recommend going if you are from out of town and want to check out the Baltimore food scene. Our tour guide, Scott, was knowledgeable, professional and if I went on other tours I would want him as our guide. 5/5 stars!"
